This update dropped late last night. These release notes are nearly 12 hours behind the actual firmware release. That is a trust issue. I don’t care what way you try to spin it to make it sounds okay, it is not.

Updated the switches 10 minutes ago and have lost access.

@Alta-MikeD

There’s an SFP+ issue with your S24 again. Interfaces are showing down/down after this update.

Right now I have it temporarily online via copper connection from my
S24/Interface 24 <> R10/L3

I also needed to daisy chain the S16/Interface 16 <> S24/Interface 22 to establish connection to that device. It appears as if none of the interfaces on your S24 seem to be functioning correctly.

Current status of the S24 via GUI. No activity shown for interfaces 22 & 24 where it’s currently connected.

I thought it was my DAC cable had gone bad, but you are totally right! I had to pull my DAC cable after the last update as well.

A physical power cycle of the S24 normalized all interfaces including the SFP+.

If it were me, I’d pull this update asap.

99%+ of the devices came back online after this update, so there’s no urgent need to pull this release in our opinion. We’ve seen your specific issue across multiple releases, so I don’t believe it’s anything specific to this release, and I’d love to work with you personally to see if you can reproduce this on-demand, so that we can fix it on your site.

Unless my eyes are playing games, it appears @rutman286 experienced issues with his SFP+ interfaces / DAC’s as well.

@rutman286 Happy to work directly with you as well to see if you can reproduce the issue on-demand.

I appreciate the offer, but I thought it was my DAC cable. I have since thrown that cable away and am temporarily using a CAT6 cable between route10 and my S24-PoE.

With all due respect. I’m not going to sit here and reboot these switches constantly to try and emulate issues that are being missed on your end.

At this point, I’d be happy share the logs. I’m going to let you folks figure this out. This is now the 4th time I’ve been affected by an update. How many more times must I endure before I pack this entire ecosystem and sell it?

I apologize, but I have every right to be frustrated.

@Beaker can you provide the makes and models of any affected SFP+ links, please? We should be able to acquire the SFP modules in use and reproduce your environment in one of our labs.

For what it is worth, below is the information on my replacement DAC. I have installed it and rebooted the system. So far so good.

That is the identical DAC I had that seemed to stop working. Interesting

Which? The 10gig or the 1gig?

Sorry I should have specified. The 10G SFP+ model.

At this point, maybe it’s worth asking what SFP/SFP+ DAC’s you folks are running in your lab for 10g and 1gig?

I’m not entirely sure what all is in the lab as I’m remote from the HQ. My own lab consists of a lot of FiberStore SFPs and from that U company that I used to work for. If I had to venture a guess, I’d say triple digits for SFP quantity, but that’s a drop in the ocean relative to what’s out there.

At any rate, thanks for the reports. I just ordered those and will test them when they arrive. They may even get some S48-APOE and/or S12 love.

Totally off-topic here and forgive me if it’s not appropiate, but is it not OK to mention Ubiquiti on the forum? I don’t think it’s a super-duper secret that you yourself and some of the other staff have worked for them in the past at one time or another
