Power (PoE) Problem

In my Router 10 (1.4k):

L1 was connected to PoE-in port of EdgeRouter X.

L2 was connected to Port 1 of AP6W (2.2s).

In the beginning, L1 and L2 were both with Power (PoE) off.

After setting up L1 with Power (PoE) on and keeping L2 Power (PoE) off, EdgeRouter X didn’t become power-on but AP6W became power-on.

I might see if I can duplicate that behavior on my own Route10, but I believe the EdgeRouter X only support 24v Passive PoE as an input.

Quick edit:

Had a minute and I can at least confirm that on my Route10 setting PoE to off on L2 doesn’t seem to work as expected.

It may have gotten out of sync. Check this:

Thanks @ebuckland81 ! That did basically work.

Here were the steps in case someone from Alta wants to try and duplicate this issue: I set L2 from “Default” to 'PoE Off", saved the change, plugged the AP into that port, and it powered on despite PoE being set to Off. Switching L2 to “PoE On”, saving the change, then to “PoE Off” and saving the change, properly shut off power on the port. I then switched back to On again to power up the AP.

Thanks for the reports! Please excuse my brevity, writing from mobile while lying in a hospital bed.

I can confirm we are aware of this through another recent report. Unsure timeline of fix at time of writing.

Sorry, I maybe overshared a bit. I’m usually a lot more wordy, so I just wanted to explain why I kept this one brief.. I have a hospital bed at home, it was my former daughter’s, I’m not currently in a health care facility. Thank you, I am healing from a recent injury, so lots of rest with elevation, heat, etc. I’m not currently doing anything that is risking my long-term health.

Glad to hear that things are working well for you, and we’ll get this fixed up in a future release. Thanks again for taking the time to report this!
