There are a few topics on the matter of DACs. Maybe some of them can shine some light on compatibility/incompatibility regarding your specific case/DAC. Here are a couple topics, though there may be more out there:
I noticed a couple other people experienced the same issue in the Route10 FAQs thread, so I figured I’d create a separate thread with my troubleshooting info in case it makes the issue easier to track and resolve.
I’m trying to use both SFP+ ports to connect to switches on my network. One switch is right next to the Route10 and the other is about 8’ away.
Troubleshooting steps so far:
Port WAN2 mode changed from WAN to Standard on Route10
Connect .5-meter 10Gtek DAC cable between Route10 LAN…
Hi Alta devs,
I just got a new Route10 to see how it’d work in my multi-gig homelab network. Only connections are the two SFP+ ports on the Route10. I expected this to be a relatively easy swap with my existing Linux router, but two things immediately made this painful:
Both SFP+ ports will only link at 1g regardless of anything I do. This is the first time the cables/hardware have ever negotiated below 10g connected to anything. Mellanox SFP+ cables connected to a USW Pro Aggregation. Updati…
I am using only the 2 SFP+ ports on my Route10. Zero devices in the other ports.
WAN2 has a SFP+ RJ45 module plugged in and the Cat6a cable connects to an AdTrans ONT (provided by my ISP Sonic.net Fiber) 10GbE port.
LAN4 has DAC cable plugged in where the Route10 then provides internet to a device downstream.
When I reboot/restart the device (unplug+replug power) in the Route10, the Route10 always struggles with establishing the internet connection again using the already plugged-in WAN2.
I…
If it doesn’t work, also report on the DAC model and see if Alta can possibly work on compatibility.
