Hi Alta Labs
Any chance you working on a ALL PoE 24 & 48 Port Switch?
16 Port PoE is insufficient when working with many IP Cameras, Phones & AP’s and doubling up the same switch uses at lot more power, heat and rack space.

A full PoE 48 port is in the works. Timeline is a little blurry right now just because of where we are in the process, but the target is the first half of 2025.
No plans for a full PoE 24/16/8 port that I can share at this time.
Look forward to that.
Probably to early to tell, but what are the anticipated fan noise of the 48 PoE switch? Currently enduring horrible whine form my Netgear GS!!
I think I have an open support ticket with you right now @user31 on that topic
We don’t have an idea of the fan noise on the 48 port at this time.
I changed the fans on my 24-port switch and it reduced the noise by about ~10 dB (from 55 to 45). It is not that much noise initially, but since it is in my office right back to me, I want it to be the quietest possible.
I’m aware that this solution is correct for the home office, but I think the main use case for 24 and 48 ports switch is in a server rack in a cooled room, not in the main room where everyone is working. So I understand the use case, but if it is possible to make it quiet, it would be a huge game changer for many of us.
@Alta-Matt_v2 the team should consider an 8 port or smaller switch that is powered by PoE.
This has been discussed internally, but no solid plans at this time.
This issue is if we then need to do PoE out from that switch and having to walk a fine line to budget for PoE in vs PoE out + the power needed to run the switch itself.
We’re pretty close to the maximum capacity for PoE as an industry as all 4 pairs of Ethernet are now being used for 802.3bt for a max of 71.3W. That would allow a maximum of 2 PoE/+ interfaces before you start running into budget issues. It’s not impossible, of course, but not something you can expect to see in the next 6 months from us, let’s put it that way.
Some users may not need the ability to power other devices from the switch. For my use case, I had a TP-Link Omada switch behind my TV cabinet that connected my devices together. Things such as the TV, Apple TV, Nintendo Switch, etc.
True true. The S8-PoE behind my Family Room TV doesn’t power anything. The Living Room TV does have a PoE in switch and does 2 PoE out; definitely use cases for both.
Safe to assume you upvoted the feature request for this? There are a few with some minor variations, so I’d recommend finding the one that matches your needs or, if you can’t find one, you can always create one.
