Is there a way to update and provision the Route10, 24P/8P switch, and AP6-PROs prior to delivering them to our project sites? The reason why I ask is because I have noticed after selecting the “Setup” button, the devices show disconnected, then when they are connected, the upgrade arrow does not work half the time. The products are requiring a power cycle after setup. And usually only after a couple of power cycles does the upgrade work. Yes, we do patiently wait after Setup. But they just do not show connected sometimes. Any input would be appreciated!
First, you can pre-assign devices to a site by using the feature in this article. This only assigns it to the site, but does not allow you to configure individual device settings or upgrade the firmware until you actually plug the device into the internet.
Second, you can use the Move to Site feature, as seen in the below screenshot.
Thank you! Pre-assigning it to the site is a neat feature. I did read that article prior to my post.
My idea was to connect to our office Alta Labs network, update it, and then move it to the client site. I was thinking about what is retained, when setup with an active internet connection in the office, then moved to the client site. Does the move to site feature reset any retained information like our office IP scheme, DNS, etc?
@Beaker thanks. I will check the other threads out as well.
When moving a device to a new site, the site-wide settings will be provisioned. Device specific settings should be retained. Please let me know what your experience with these features turn out like, in case our team could improve it.
