I am having multiple IP address conflicts. The message says it might be a result of a DHCP pool that is too small, so I edited the pool to have 50 more in the pool. The issue did not go away, so I tried moving one of the conflicts to the new higher pool address. I edited that device and assigned it to one of those higher addresses, it did not move and remains conflicted.
I am unclear on how to successfully assign an address to a device, either elsewhere in the non assigned address location, or to the reserved static ip address location. Also, how do I resolve the IP address conflict?
Thanks
This is what @Alta-MikeD said after looking at my site, he had to intervene directly to get it resolved.
One of the IPS log files was supposed to be deleted, but it’s not and filling up really quickly and causing the Route10 to run out of space, and then the dhcp file can’t update.. so that bug is causing a chain reaction.
They said this will get fixed in the next firmware update but I’d guess they might need to assist in the meantime.
I got the same issue here. There are plenty of IPs left in the DHCP range above the conflict IP. None are set static so the information on the error should not apply. As I was just logging on temporarily to the SSID where the conflict appeared it doesn’t really matter. Though, when removing the device from the list it re-appeared as a wired device and could not be removed, which is another current issue.
I’m not 100% sure of my previous statement, however, deleting the file did help. It was behaving like it was stuck/couldn’t write any more because it wasn’t updating, but they are actually different locations—maybe a side effect of the other bug, maybe it was just the process itself that fixed it.
Deleting the log file which wasn’t supposed to be writing, and also wiping the leases file, rebooting and letting it fully rebuild is the only process which brought stability back to your network. We still had a few sticky clients afterwards, but I think those were client side issues.
Ok this is still a mess, I don’t know how a product gets sold with this sort of issue. Now, I am getting IP conflicts with my AP’s and other devices, even though I have plenty of addresses available. I tried to change the AP’s to static IP within the reservation list, and that does not work. Apparently that is a non functional aspect of the settings in the AP menu. They just revert to the old IP even after saving the configuration. I wish Alta would fix this issue it is making my network unstable and unuseable.
