I need a mesh solution at my office/home

I have Deco mesh wifi that I want to replace with something more fun. One unit is connected to my ISP coaxial model/router 1GBs speed in my office(currently the modem and router is set to brighde mode) and the other unit is connected in the living room using only power cable and those units do the mesh thing/roaming.

I would like to achieve the same setup with Alta labs, Is it doable by purchasing the router, controller and only two access points? Is it mandatory to buy a swtich such that the root AP has to be connected to a switch and the second one can be connected to a power cable?

In my office I will use ethernet cable directly to the router. Addionally I have a homelab server running some vms with windows server datacenter (my nic have two ports, one for vms and one for the host) so vlans sounds of course fun to play with and, of course I will connect the server using ethernet cable.
Any one can help me suggest the hardware needed to achieve my situation mentioned above?

I think you would benefit most from one Route10, one S8-POE and two AP6 or AP6-Pro APs. But you do not HAVE to use the switch. There are PoE ports on Route10 that can run one of your APs just fine. Mesh is never preferred, but if you do have to use it, it works extremely well with the Apt6-Pro APs in my experience.

Ok, when you say mesh is not the preferred way, what is the preferred way? :slight_smile:

Cable cable cable when ever you can.
Nothing more stable than that.

Unfortunately it’s not an option for now

Use it in mesh mode I think it will be good!

@sinan

You might be able to support a connection to your living room should you have any available coaxial outlets.

Research MoCA and the available ethernet adapters on the market. I currently own a set of Hitron’s which work flawlessly.
