Dumb Question - How to Reboot an AP?

Dumb question but is there a way to reboot/restart an AP?

I have a majority of devices on an AP conveniently located in the center of the building and have moved some APs around so usually i would restart an AP to have devices jump to a closer or different AP.

Or… will the devices eventually leave the AP they are connected to in order to jump onto the closest one near it?

Thanks for your time!

Right now the only available options for rebooting APs are through power cycling POE (if you are on a POE switch), or SSHing into a particular AP and rebooting using CLI.

gotcha. i appreciate you letting me know and future users.

Thank you!

Hi guys, just an update, in the latest release you can now reboot devices

This function is now in place also as a proper button in the Web UI under Network device settings for APs (at least my AP6 Pro), switches (at least my S8) and Route10. :+1::+1: The Android app is not yet there.

Is that button only available in the cloud interface, I am not seeing it in the local control interface?

You’re probably looking for this button. Screenshot is from my local Control.

Odd, I don’t have that button. There is nothing below Location, other than the Save button, and the scroll bar is all the way down. I have tried resizing my screen to see if it is somehow hidden by my zoom settings but it just isn’t there??

Try other browser and also check if this may apply:

Ok that was it. In my case using Brave, the shields were on. Once I turned them off for the site, the button appeared. Thanks

Other ways as of March 2025:
Open the APs settings dialogue click the settings tab on the top and go to advanced. There is now a reboot button there.

If you don’t want to SSH you can open the CLI interface on the controller by holding shift and clicking the AP or device name. Type “reboot” in the CLI and hit enter.

It’s available on local control as well. Make sure your up to date it’s part of a recent update.
