AP6-PRO not setting up only disconnecting brand new out of box

Well a few days with the Route10 and it was great but an hour into this AP6 Pro running Version 1.0s and it won’t stay connected after pressing setup and it won’t update.

Only way to get the AP to say connected again is if the button on the back is held till the white flashing light.

Tried 3 different cables.
Tried both POE ports on the Route10.

Have 1 day left of my vacation so can try anything.

When do you want to update bcb923017e1c?

Update Request Timed Out. Please make sure the device is connected, and try again.

Sorry to hear about the issue wth your AP6-Pro. Some of the early firmware, like 1.0s can be sensitive to setup. That one especially won’t work if IPv6 is enabled.

The easiest way to work around that is using the automatic firmware recovery process which is a little different than the reset process you already used.

This process doesn’t suffer the same bug. If the process is successful it’ll update it to a newer release that won’t have that bug, and then setup will just work. It takes about 2-3 minutes and it requires minimal fussing around, which is why this is usually the easiest route.

Please read the automatic recovery process in THIS article.

Updated to 2.2c and still after pressing Setup it disconnects and nothing.

Won’t go past 2.2c

IPV6 disabled

Edit an hour later -
Tried again now AP is stuck in 3 flashing light mode…

Can I ask what port on Route3 you are running the AP from? Additionally, can you give us a screenshot of what the port config looks like for the port you are using? It really seems like the AP is not getting good DNS.

Port 3 and tried port 4

Everything is default except I have static IP addressed 40 things for like proxmox and my nas but proxmox is off till the 8 port switch comes in next week.

AP used to show data now it’s bare and no longer showing setup.

Forgive the obvious questions, but I am trying to help cover all bases. Have you tried a different network cable as well? That is VERY strange to see the AP taking power, but show disconnected. If it were mine I would immediately suspect a cable issue.
I assume as well your DHCP pool still has leases available?

Tried 3 cables. 2 same brand 1 different all Cat 6. Nearly Bunch free for DHCP Currently 4 devices connected. Route10 booted first, then the AP connected just to make sure its not getting hung on boot.

Hopefully Alta support can help you more tomorrow. Something is definitely not right. I am just another forum user like yourself so I am limited on what I can do.

So Beaker recommended factory reset both Route10 and AP6 Pro.

Disconnect power from both.

Delete both from the cloud.

Reboot Route10 but not to set it up.

Boot AP
Setup AP
(Finally got to version 2.2e)

Saw data flowing through kinda like the Route10 before on the wifi but forgot to do a speed test.

Setup Route10 and now AP is disconnected and don’t see data flowing anymore like the screenshot above.

Maybe it’s the Route10?

Solved for now I thought,

Deleted everything and starting back all over and new…

I factory reset the AP and while it was booting I disconnected it.
Factory reset the Route10 and rebooted

Deleted the AP and Router from the cloud and then deleted my site,

Made a new site and kept the IP default 192.168.1.1 normally I’m 10.1.1.1

even though 2 hours ago both Route10 and AP said I was up todate firmware wise this new boot up and setup screen said I was back to 1.3e and 1.0c

I setup the AP and waited for a min.

Then setup the Route10.

Now I have gone back in and set back to 10.1.1.1

Next will be all new Static IPs again.

Now both say up to date and running. Glad I didn’t drink a Monster…

Beaker thanks for the ideas.

Woke up disconnected.

Rebooted AP.

LOL. NOTHING!!!

Beta Testing WOOOOHOOOO.

Honestly, it sounds like you might just have a flakey unit. I’d send it back and try another.

When it goes disconnected, does it always show no link on the corresponding wired interface?

Normally under site manager it says 1 device disconnected. It won’t reconnect till I hold the button on the back and do a reset and delete and resetup.

Currently the AP is back in it’s box, been disconnected for a good 2 hours but site manager says its connected.

I may need to asked in a more detailed way, apologies if I was being vague.

In this post @rutman286 asks port on the Route10 you’re using to drive the AP in question.

In your response post, you state that you’ve tried ports 3 and 4. And you share this screenshot:

Based on the reply, I’m assuming (please correct me if I’m wrong) that, at the time of the screenshot, the following details are accurate:

  1. The AP was plugged in to L2 (which may be stated as Port 3, assuming we’re going from left to right)
  2. There is PoE, as denoted by the power icon. There is no link, as denoted by the color-less interface box as for the interface L2 to have link, that box would have to be orange, blue, or a darkish gray as there really aren’t standards on link colors for 2.5gbps interface.

Assuming that these 2 things are true, my question: When the AP reports as disconnected, does the corresponding interface always show the way it is shown in the screenshot?

As for the Controller showing the AP as “Connected” while the AP is in its box, can you share a screenshot of that, please? What browser is that screenshot taken from?

Ultimately, I’d like to get enough confirmed details from you so I can remove any assumptions, if possible.

I made sure I tried both POE+ ports.
When I press setup lights and activity stay the same just like it worked for about 45min last night. Devices and AP just stop responding.

I rebooted the Route10 and now site manager shows 1 disconnected. Forgot to screen shot before hand. I was trying to get people wifi again wasn’t thinking about that.
