Xfinity EPON device - Fiber Internet

Hi All,

Has anyone found a way to connect Xfinity EPON, (10G-EPON) ONU box to a router, specifically Route 10, without the gateway (XB7/8)? The XB7 can be put into bridge mode, but it only has (1) 2.5GB port, which is supposed to connect to the EPON device. The other (3) ports are 1GB. That might be a bottleneck, I’ll have to see what speed I can order. In any case, it’s clutter in my enclosure; Chunky gateway, a power adapter, and cabling, not to mention energy consumption. It seems the Xfinity gateway has MACSEC which authenticates it on their network. If this is true, I’d like to officially request a feature: “ALTA MACSEC” authentication for Xfinity!

You might be able to call xfinity and just bypass the Xfinity EPON, (10G-EPON) and go straight into the route 10. You will need to make sure you have the right sfp+ for that fiber connection.

I’m not super familiar with xfinity though.

Unfortunately not, the Xfinity gateway is needed for authentication. If Alta could forge a deal on this, it would be pretty awesome.
