Why is my 8-port switch showing 30% CPU utilization when only one device is connected to it? My 24-port switch is only using around 10% CPU. Is this normal?
Normal. Just checked mine, and it’s bouncing between 20% and 78%. The CPU is there to do housekeeping duties; your data is actually switched through a piece of silicon, and doesn’t hit the CPU.
One of the things the CPU is doing when you’re monitoring it via WebGUI is creating those little traffic graphs.
Yes, same here. I would say that it hovers around 25 % as a base level, and occasionally spikes higher.
