When will the AP-7 be available

When will the AP-7 be available?

I saw a post, or maybe something, through email that a new AP was going out to distributors. Do we have any new information on this?

It will not be until later this year, but in the mean-time our WiFi 6 models continue to outperform some other vendors’ WiFi 7 models, and offer unsurpassed reliability. We are curious, however, if there are particular projects that are requiring WiFi 7, and 6 GHz in particular.

Can you please share the data that supports the claim that the WiFi 6 models outperform other vendors WiFi 7 models.

We have experienced a 33% failure rate on Alta Lab APs. Can you also provide data to support the unsurpassed reliability metric.

I only had an issue with the first batch of AP6 Pro. Also, I had 2 AP6 Pr,o and I only got 1 that got replaced. The other one is rock solid online. The only time that I had a downtime with Alta Labs equipment is when there was an outage longer than what my UPS can provide  So I don’t count that ahaha. Switch, Controller, and Route 10, still rocking online.

Maybe my setup is less challenged than yours, and you encounter a different result. Tech is like dark magic some sometimes it works on my machine and other times it works on yours ahaha.

@ecs-solutions Some of our customers have compared with WiFi 7 APs and found Alta’s to still perform better. WiFi 7 definitely does not guarantee the best WiFi performance. Especially for some WiFi 7 APs that are 2x2 and Dual-band only, the AP6-Pro is a clear winner because of increased range/performance of 4x4, and support for 4K QAM. We have not run an official benchmark against WiFi 7 APs, but you can see official benchmarks against similar WiFi 6 APs here: Alta Labs

I’m sorry to hear that your failure rate is so high, but I assure you that’s completely abnormal, and I’m hopeful we were able to replace them quickly for you. Even within a small batch that has a higher failure rate, it’s less than 5% RMA rate, and outside of that single batch, the RMA rate is much less than 1%.

Personally i’ve had no issues with the AP’s. I have a normal ap6 in my garage that has been exposed to temps from -20F to 100F.

@ecs-solutions Could you clarify what failures you experienced and what the environment was? model ap, firmware level, cloud managed/locally managed, infrastructure.
I’ve been running the AP6 Pro in my garage with no air conditioning/cooling and 108F heat for a long time with no issues. I also run an AP6 Pro Outdoor in my unfinished attic that in South Texas Heat reaches 118F peak temp in the afternoons.
These two AP’s run 24/7 and I have had ZERO issues on any client device… in fact I was able to achieve better average coverage and speed across my entire home and outside as well using this setup.
I am using cat6 riser cable with traditional non-passthrough rgj45 heads, the attic AP does have the outdoor weatherproof cable boot installed on it, and both AP’s connect to a Route10 mounted on the wall of my home office that is connected to an APC SMART-UPS. The cable drop runs are both 57 feet from point to point and are kept 3-4 feet away from any electrical.
I do have auto-update enabled for the firmware on all devices, so the only downtime that has reported since these were deployed is the few seconds while the firmware applies and the devices reboot (literal seconds).
I’m curious to know what you have seen with your installations and experience with the AltaLabs AP’s.
