WAN2 Port Help!

I’m encountering an issue with my current setup and hoping someone can shed light on what might be going wrong:

  • Setup Details:
    • WAN2 is connected via a 10GTech SFP+ cable to a Mokerlink unmanaged switch.
    • My Omada access points are connected to the Mokerlink switch.
  • Issue:
    • The Omada access points are unable to assign IPs through the router. (I tried different unmanaged switches in place of Mokerlink on WAN2 and faced same issue)
    • However, when I connect the access points to a Netgear 10G 8-port unmanaged switch (connected to LAN4 through 10GTech SFP+), everything works fine.
  • Configuration Info:
    • I’ve ensured that the settings for LAN4 and WAN2 are matched.

Question:

  • Does anyone know why the Omada APs fail to assign IPs when connected to the Mokerlink switch but work fine with the Netgear switch?

Any insights or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated!

WAN2: check that theMode is set to Standard

Also check Native VLAN and Allowed VLAN are set to the same value.

I set VLAN and native VLAN to default (for VLAN I also tried all and for native VLAN I tried 1) no luck

And yes set mode as standard

Also any orhrrr devices I connect to Mokerlink work fine it is only the access points which are not assigning IPs properly. (I have VLAN 1, 1001,1002 handled by access points)

The switch is unmanaged so can’t handle VLANS.

your switch will only handle the native VLAN as set on the Route10, VLAN1. the Access Points will not see the 1001 or 1002 VLANs.

Maybe your Netgear switch is passing everything Untagged and tagged. the AP is able to function as nornal, whereas the Mokerlink only passes the untagged.

Mokerlink has a button where I can switch it between managed and unmanaged. Today will try with managed and see what happens.

I thought unmanaged switches just pass the tagged and untagged traffic for down stream devices to figure out.

thank you much, didnt know that some unmanaged switches dont passthrough tagged VLAN traffic (all netgear unmanaged switches allowed it). Mokerlink once I switched to managed everything started working.
