Using route 10 as bypass

Hello all,

I’m new to the Alta verse.

So I setup a route 10 for a client, using it in bypass mode, plugged that into the switch, seems to be ok.

I have two AP6 Pro WAP’s. Once is connected to the R10, while the other is connected to the switch. The way the client is setup, I cannot plug the second AP into the R10. They both seem to be working, i am using the default VLAN, setup SSID’s. My question is, is there a “better” way to set this up? Should I create separate VLAN’s for each ssid or just stick with using the default vlan?

The system was working fine yesterday then this morning I saw a lot of alerts that the AP’s where down, then back up.

I think that all sounds pretty fine, although I suppose it just depends on what the goal of the design and the client is.

If there’s a lot of devices or certain devices shouldn’t be talking to other devices then splitting the network into different vlans and subnets can be helpful. The Alta equipment could also be split out on to it’s own management VLAN to keep other devices from ever trying access the equipment, so that’s another thing to consider.

Otherwise there are plenty of networks out there that are simple, flat, and run just fine. :slight_smile:
