I’m running a Firewalla router along with an AP6, AP6 Pro, and a switch. Every couple of hours (sometimes days), I get a notification that my network has uploaded a few MB of data to manage.alta.inc.
Does anyone know what exactly is being sent to the portal that would amount to a couple of MB? My understanding was that everything should be processed locally, especially since I’m using the web controller.

i’m pretty sure its just icmp traffic. All devices ping out like every 20 to 30 seconds to make sure they are online.
I recommend you read their privacy policy (Privacy Policy). Pay attention to the Information We collect section, it is pretty broad (it does exclude actually snooping your traffic), but pretty much anything else is fair game.
I would love to see exactly what is being transmitted, it has been referenced a few times in the past but I’ve never seen a clear answer on what is actually being collected.

My network operates locally through a controller, not cloud. I filter wan access for all alta devices. Nothing gets out, nothing gets in. Problem solved.
