Sudden Network Shutdown

This is a very different issue at a site. There are avout 4-5 AP’s at site with Alta Switch.
Very abnormally, at any random time, complete network shuts down for about 18-20 mins.
Is ther a way to identify what is causing that?
There are no logs available from which we can find the issue is from Router or no.
Also a Small UPS is also installed to keep the power uninterrupted. But found that power was not a issue.

Any suggestions to check would be helpful
TIA.

You said no logs, are you checking the logs on the APs/Switches or just the router?

Alta logs i ean which i want to check.

Sorry could you repeat that?

You will need to start isolating it. Do the SSIDs stop broadcasting? Are wired clients connected to the Alta switch affected as well? When the event happens are you able to ping the default gateway IP?

This ^. Additionally, you can start at the router and work your way backwards when this issue occurs.

  1. Unplug the switch and plug a laptop into the same port on the router that the switch was plugged into.
  2. Plug a laptop into the switch.
  3. Join the wireless network

At each of those points, try:

  1. Pinging the default gateway
  2. Ping a public IP address such as your DNS server that’s handed out by DHCP or statically set
  3. Ping a domain name

That’s 9 total tests. Knowing at which part of the network and on what test the communication breaks down is critical in knowing where the fault likely is.

Issue was with the broadband router. Once it was changed , no issue till date.
But asking broadband company to change router was such a pain. They were not ready to listen.
