A new firmware release is now available for Route10. This release adds more flexibility in how traffic can be matched and routed.
Added support for host- and domain-name-based firewall groups. These groups can be used across firewall and policy-based routing, making it easier to target traffic for specific hosts or domains; such as forwarding *.alta.inc over WAN2.
This update is being rolled out now. You can manually initiate the upgrade if you’d like, or it will automatically update overnight (if auto-updates are enabled). The complete, up-to-date changelog is available here:

Just curious on how the policy based route performs if the destination becomes unavailable. Does it just kill the traffic or fallback onto a different destination?
Follow up to @dalewhlrr question can I have a VPN running and if it fails to one wan everything goes over the VPN and if it’s on the other wan it just routes normally?
Good question. Currently it just uses any other available WAN. We plan to add the option of a fallback WAN, where you can specify Any WAN, a specific WAN, or Drop to simply drop the traffic.
Feel free to ask around. I don’t have any sites anymore. I was just trying to be helpful remembering this happened one other time right when temperature was getting added to the controller UI.
Yeah, I’ve seen that temperature reporting issue before although it’s been quite a while since I’ve seen. A reboot would usually take care of the issue from what I remember and as mentioned by @techtegrity. Doesn’t seem to be affecting any Route10’s I have deployed right now though.
It was never a serious issue, but I believe I created a ticket about it once as well. I’d be happy to look up the ticket number if you’re looking for something to review @Alta-Jeff
When are we going to see this on the local controller ? . My router is up to date but i can’t see this on the local controller (alta control) . What is your cycle ? You develop a feature , release to the cloud controller , then to the local , then to the phone app ? Just wanting to understand your release cycle. Consistency among platforms of management is important. Also do you have a fixed schedule to release updates and firmwares. What about security updates ? I am new to the platform . I think you have cool products . I am slowly adopting them in to my home and my plan is to eventually become a distributor . Coming from a system administration background , i am more concerned with stability and security than cutting edge innovation. It is hard to explain your wife or your customer you have cutting edge tech but unstable . That is why i ask about these things .
If you want to use it for domains I suggest until alta releases theirs that you use @Unflawed ‘s excellent script that they wrote. I’ve been using it for a while and it works extremely well.
