Project Overview: Starlink + Route10 + AP6 Mesh for Long-Range Coverage
Just wrapped up a fun and challenging install for a long floorplan home with some unique coverage needs. Here’s the setup:
Equipment List:
- Starlink (primary internet source)
- Route10 (router)
- S8-POE (PoE switch)
- 2x AP6-PRO (indoor access points)
- 3x AP6-PRO Outdoor (outdoor access points)
Site Layout:
- The house has two wings separated by a large vaulted living/dining/kitchen area.
- A workshop sits about 300 ft to the south.
- A river lies about 300 ft to the north.
Deployment Strategy:
- Two AP6-PROs cover the interior of the house. Due to the builder not provisioning a cable path between wings, one AP is meshed.
- One AP6-PRO Outdoor is mounted on the front eave, and another on the rear eave, providing strong coverage all the way to the river.
- The third AP6-PRO Outdoor is mounted on the workshop, extending the network 300 ft south.
Real-World Performance:
I tested the setup by starting 4K video streams on my laptop, my phone, the homeowner’s phone, then we walked from the workshop, through the house, and down to the river—not a single buffer. Seamless handoff and rock-solid performance throughout.
