One of the tabs on my AP6’s mounting bracket has broken away. I discovered the concern when moving into our new home. It is was likely damaged while learning how to snap it into place when the AP was new a couple of years ago.
Is it possible to purchase a new bracket? It looks a little sad just hanging from the Ethernet cable.
Post a picture. It’s most likely not broken. The tabs are just different. I believe one side looks broken because that’s how the release mechanism works.
Unfortunately it is broken … I installed a couple more after this one and now I am somewhat better. It is still awkward, but I really spent a lot of time working with this first one. The wooden base is to keep the bracket flat on less than flat ceilings around outlet boxes.
Maybe I’m just doing it wrong but I really do not like mounting solution for these. I have watched the video but when trying to do it up on the ceiling I really struggle.
Let me see if I can make a short video on it today with a different perspective. It finally “clicked” for me (pun intended), and maybe I can explain it a bit different.
It may be helpful to carry a small flat tool to help press the tab in behind the AP. From the front, you can see an Alta logo with the top of the A pointing like an arrow around the back side of the device. That is where the tab is which you could try to gently push in while you twist the AP into place.
Also I would recommend testing the mount on the ground. I just held the mount in one hand and the AP in the other and experimented with the angle that I approached the mount, then experimented with the twisting motion. Watching the mount from behind helped me get the trick of it much smoother.
