Quick Mount Technology Question

My current AP6 and Route10 are all I need for my simple home network. They provide 800+ Mb in the family/kitchen/dining area and over 450 to 500 mb throughout the house including the garage and the back patio. I enjoy reading your blog, viewing your monthly live events and just browsing the Alta website. Recently I was looking at https://www.alta.inc/access-point and saw an AP installation animation referencing “Quick Mount Technology”. The animation looks like the AP is simply being slid directly onto the bracket. This is nothing like the current inert tabs twist and pray for a click. My AP is ceiling mounted and the only difficult part of installing/setting up your gear was snapping the AP into place. Has the mounting bracket been recently redesigned? Thanks …

I don’t know if that animation really indicates anything in particular, but I do know it was mentioned back in the April live stream that the mount was going to be tweaked when their WiFi 7 AP comes out:

I remember the Wifi 7 AP mount comment and plan to purchase one. I was hoping the new bracket might be available now. Although I’ve only installed six Alta APs (mine, family and friends) I’m not sure I’d refer to their current bracket as “Quick Mount Technology.”

If you are using the included screws, the current mount snaps into place with a light counter-clockwise twist. I recommend practicing with it in your hands a few times so you can observe the mechanism and understand exactly how simple and quick the process really is. No one on our team is able to reproduce any issue with the brackets, though we are still working on an adjustment for the WiFi7 lineup.

Josh,
Don’t take this the wrong way as I’m just a home user. Your hardware works great and your free cloud based management is easy to understand and setup for a non-network professional. As a member of our HOA’s technology support group I have helped a number of homeowners setup their home networks and recommended your APs; all the homes are prewired including a ceiling mounted network drop. However, after watching Alta’s video, practicing beforehand and using screws that do not protrude above the bracket surface there is nothing easy about snapping your AP into place when standing on a ladder, fighting with the ethernet cable, seemingly upside down over your head. As I said I only do this occasionally, but I think it could be much simpler. That said the range and speed of your APs make it worth the effort, and I will be upgrading to your new WiFi 7 AP.
