Hi I have been on the most part, following along in this forum. I created an account, as I am considering a route10, and perhaps an AP to test with. I have some questions, before further consideration.
Route10: DHCP - can you currently disable DHCP on the router? I would like to point to a third party DHCP server.
Route10: Can you restart router via GUI?
Controller: Which is the most stable, cloud, or, local controller?
Controller: Can you easily migrate from the cloud controller, to a local controller?
Controller: Can configurations be saved / backed up and reloaded?
AP: Can you turn off the light on the AP’s?
EDIT: Route10: can you remote log to a log server?
EDIT:2 Route10 - Is there a rack mount for the router?
I think I can answer some of these!
Route10
-
Yes, DHCP can be disabled per network (per VLAN basically):
-
Yes, that’s available in the router settings under advanced
-
Yes, there’s a section for setting a syslog server
-
Not at present, but there is one coming. It was pushed back a couple of times but I believe the last update mentioned it being released this month sometime. Most recent discussion about that is here:
Controller
- I’ve only used the cloud controller up to this point and I believe that’s where most of the feature work occurs first, although the local controller is generally kept pretty closely in line with it. Haven’t had any issues with the cloud controller myself but I know I’ve seen issues reported with the local controller from time to time.
- I don’t think that’s a feature right now although I recall it being mentioned as something being worked on. Presently I think the equipment has to be reset and adopted by the new controller, whether that’s cloud or local.
- I believe things like firewall and port forwarding rules can be exported/imported, otherwise to the best of my knowledge no.
Hope that helps!
@jmszuch thank you for your answers!
