[Question] Firewall on S24-POE

Hello everyone,

We’ve recently decided to give Alta Labs devices a go (possibly going to start using Alta Labs instead of Cisco for non-colo needs); with only the S24-POE on the network (we are still awaiting delivery of the Route10 and APs), there is a Firewall tab under “Settings” (in the cloud management website).

Does the switch have a built-in firewall? I wasn’t expecting that, and it’s kind of a nice feature if it’s true.

Just wondering if anyone can confirm this.

Not that I’m aware of! To the best of my knowledge it’s basically there to allow for preconfiguration if you get a Route10. At least, I’ve used it that way a couple of times. Then if a Route10 is installed it just pulls the config down from the controller as soon as it can reach it. Same with the WiFi settings, for example.
