Problems with alta control

So just today I tried to get on control and it won’t load the ddns.. I even did something I didn’t even want to do since I didn’t want to redo all my settings …

Did a factor reset. . Got onto controller to add email.. and when it gets the ddns it won’t connect. Local or non local

So no currently on cloud so I can atleast use my network

I’m in the same situation you are. I also angrily did a factory reset on control, even though everything seems to be fuctioning normal. It just had me create a new account on local, was able to log back into a fresh local, but none of my devices are being found.

yea i cant even access the controller

I also lost the ability to access my local control today. Everything still works so I’m guessing something with the ddns is flaking? Planning on looking into this more tomorrow by sshing into my control box directly.

I’m now back to the This site can’t be reached error.

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

We have been able to identify several issues today, and have fixed for them which should go out in a release on Monday.

As far as DNS issues, if you can DM me your hostname, I can double-check that DNS is set up correctly. Was it working previously?

How to update to latest now since controller dead.. this is a massive failure AltaLab!! You have to push the update automatically to recover for all your users so that don’t need to redo all the setup!

This exposed a serious design flaw.. why local controller get affected? The whole point of local controller is to be independent of any cloud service.

@alta-Jeff I very well could be blind, but I don’t see an option to send you a direct message anywhere.

just went down again

Thanks for your DM. We’re working with you directly.

how do i dm?

so what’s the point of the local controller if it still needs to connect to cloud basically the controller has been nothing but problems since this weekend and about to switch everything to cloud control since that hasnt been problems

DNS resolution has been resolved as of a few moments ago. We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. We are working towards improving this. Please keep in mind that all networks continued to function even if local controllers were unreachable for this brief period of time.

It is possible to run Alta Control more isolated based on this article here: https://help.alta.inc/hc/en-us/articles/47983555191067-Using-Alta-Control-in-an-Isolated-Offline-Environment
