Problem with IOT Smart switches / plugs

Hi,

I’m Confused. I recently bought a Route 10 to replace my Ubiquiti ER-4. I currently have a Omada controller and multiple Omada EAP 660 HD’s configured for my Wifi with multiple VLANS. I configured the Route 10 to replicate my current ER-4 setup in relation to VLANS, Port forwarding etc. The main issue I noticed after the configuration was completed was that my IOT Smart switches / Plugs that only operate on the 2.4GHz band were not obtaining IP addresses on the associated Vlan whilst the 5GHz devices on that same vlan were obtaining IP addresses. All other WiFi VLANS function without issue. There was no such issues with the ER-4 configuration and the ER-4 has again worked without issue since it was switched back. The only change here was the Route 10. I’m disappointed as the Route 10 is back int the box because the family use the IOT swithes and Plugs regularly. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Additional observations:

I was also disappointed to learn DDNS is not configurable as yet but was able to work around this issue for now.
I also like to use DHCP to static Mapping which from my brief time using the router didn’t appear to be supported. Are their plans to expand DHCP functionality?
I believe with the promised additional features added to the Route 10 and current Bugs resolved this will be a great device.

Has anyone any idea when the next Firmware upgrade is due?

Thanks
Richard

Are you saying the 2.4 devices weren’t getting addresses at all or they were getting addresses in the wrong VLAN? Did you do any packet captures to check the DORA process? Do you have any screenshots of your Route10 configuration?

Do you have the same result if you briefly disable the 5GHz band for that SSID? I’ve seen a similar intermittent issue that this resolves. Re-enabling the 5GHz band is fine after the initial connection is established.

Hi jeffk931 and Alta-Josh,

Thanks you both for your relplies. I will get the unit back out of the box as soon as I get a chance and try your suggestions.

Thanks again.
Richard

Ok, I took the Route 10 back out of the box and after upgrading to 1.3W I reconfigured it last night. I need to correct my original post. The Smart switches and plugs were getting an IP from the DHCP server, however when I tried to use the mobile app to control the 2.4GHz smart devices they were offline and therefore Google home was also unable to see them also. After many hours playing about with settings etc, I finally discovered that if I disabled acceleration in the route 10 then everything was working fine. Can someone shed more light as to why this may be the case?

Thanks in advance,

Richard
