Power Supply Rant

I have a small rant that I’m very upset about for no reason, but it makes my blood boil. The S8 uses a huge power adapter, which is fine, because the way the AC prongs are turned 90d. The Route10 uses the same power supply, but has interchangeable tips, but they go the opposite direction as the S8. So, if you plug an S8 and a Route10 into the same power source, you are taking up 4-6 outlets depending on spacing…for two devices.

If you included the same power supply as the S8, you would only take up two outlets depending on the way the outlets for your power source are oriented.

Luckily, I have a few S8s and I can just use one of those power supplies, but I got super upset for no reason.

That is all. I hope this provided comic relief for some people this weekend.

It just means I have to figure out another way to use my half width PDU in my rack. :frowning:

So I’ve received a new S8 and Route10 in the last couple of weeks and they both arrived with the same power supply - with the interchangeable tips. Using the UK plug results in the bulk of the power supply hanging below the power outlet. One power supply only takes up one power outlet here.

Losing 4-6 outlets for 2 devices would cause me to rant as well!

My three S8s came with a US power supply facing one way, and the Route10 came with the interchangeable power supply facing the opposite way. I am thinking about buying new power supplies online, so they all match and look nice for my rack.

Ikea in EU sells these extension outlets which are 45° tilted, pretti smart as almost no power supply can overlap each other. Maybe you could get one too in the us?
