Porting a script for openwrt to alta route 10

So.. I’ve had an alta route 10 since last November/December and recently even got an AP to play with. The thing is though I can’t use it as my everyday router because it still hasn’t gotten support for domain based routing which is a thing I want/need on it. I currently run an ASUS AXE16000 running merlin that does support this. It got me thinking so I started researching a bit and openwrt(what route 10’s based on) also have scripts that do domain based routing over VPN so I was looking at porting the script into the route 10. I was wondering if Alta has any guides for writing custom scripts to use on the route 10 or is it kind of “going in blind” thing. Guess I was hoping it talks about any gotchas around route10’s.

If you are wondering why domain based routing over VPN is important to me. I use it to route certain sites/services over VPN where the bulk of my traffic is all on my normal IP. Feel like I am just wasting hardware letting the route 10 basically be nothing but a lab system that I turn on every couple weeks to toy with. Yes I could VPN myself but that routes all traffic and the domain based routing is just an elegant solution. Other products have it as well so just surprised it still hasn’t been added to Alta.

This might be a good place to start, since there’s some examples of how people have implemented some scripts to change settings when the Route10 starts up or applies a configuration change:

Thanks for sending this. Wish it would just be implemented in firmware but at this point I’m questioning if it is coming.

Yeah, I suspect it’s in the works since it’s a pretty heavily requested feature, but some confirmation wouldn’t hurt
