Here is my “finished” mini rack for my home. I had a 27u rack, but after moving away from a Savant control system and a whole home audio setup, my rack was empty. This gave me an idea to see what I could put together with the Rackmate T1 mini rack. I didn’t fit everything I wanted, and I would definitely want more purpose made accessories, but I think it turned out great. There are three auxiliary switches throughout the house, which I will eventually convert to Alta.
Equipment:
Netgear Modem (will be changing to a newer model)
GLI Router (will be changing out to the new Alta router)
Alta PoE 8 x2
Lutron and Ikea Hubs
Mac Mini
Overall, I think it came out well. I wish there was a good power solution that fits this rack and had IP control, I’m sure I’ll figure something out. I’m anxiously awaiting the new Alta router to round it all out.
Never finished. The Mac Mini is a Proxmox machine so I can self host or test certain software. Its main purpose is for Homebridge or Scrypted for now. I might upgrade to a newer Mac Mini, but we will see how slow this one is. I’m also waiting for the Route10, which will change how I wire some things.

Insane cable management, it’s a very nice setup! More and more people are moving from the full-size rack (~20U) to something smaller. With the power of Nuc mini pcs, small switches, and the speed that AP provides, we can move from wired to wireless a little bit more and it is movable vs full size rack and it take less space
