The management UI seems very pieced together with no real flow. Ive used it for months and everytime I go into it, it just just feels chaotic.
Alot of settings and panel are buried and dont flow very well.
When clicking a network device, instead of opening to a side panel or a full page display, it shows a tiny window that doesnt close on its own when you click away from it or if you click another setting.
Trying to access things like static reservations is annoying because settings like that are buried.
Devices traffic and monitor are stuck in a very small window size.
It feels like the wheel is trying to be reinvented on how a dashboard should look and feel and even for an IT Tech, this feels very not it.
Dashboards and settings for each device should have its own page when clicking on it and being able to see stuff in a window larger than 2x3.
Overall, the router is amazing, but the management UI needs heavy polishing.
The GUI appears to be built for simplicity, but the entire platform is built on complexity. I don’t even think they know who they’re tailoring to. We can never get a straight answer. Switches are decent, but the R10 and its features over the GUI needs work.
We are happy to take a look at each comment that you have above, but your feedback is generally not consistent with what we hear from most of our users. Regardless, let me dig in.
The device cards are small windows, as designed, so that you can manage several different devices at a time. This is a game changer when doing manual channel planning or switch port configuration. If you wish to expand the window, there is a button to do that, and if there is enough demand, we could make an option to expand by default as a user’s preference.
IP reservations are within a Device’s card, so just click on the device you want to set the IP for, and assign an IP. If the device hasn’t connected to the network yet, you can manually add at the top right with “Add Wired/Wireless”. You can even add a bunch of devices at a time.
We do realize there are many legacy tools out there that have different designs, and we will definitely acknowledge that we are trying to be different in our approach, but most of the feedback we hear is that the design is refreshing and intuitive. Of course there are instances where we listened carefully to our users’ past feedback, and redesigned how VLANs and WANs are configured to match other legacy systems, as an example, so we will definitely take your feedback as constructive criticism.
The product overall has been great and I dont mean to come off as if the dashboard is horrible, cause its not. It just needs a little refining is all to make it easier to find certain things.
