Local controller

Hello. I have a feq questions

1)controller is built on Ubuntu. So updates of ubuntu are automatized?
2)do you have ip or domain names where it is connecting for updates? i see the controller is opening ports to cloudfront, amazonaws, cannoical, cloudflare…
3)what about IP ports (TCP/UDP)? Only http/https?
4)APs are updated from controller or from cloud? So updates are downloaded to controller and from controller are distribued to APs?

@RadekSima 1. Yes, all controller updates will be automatic by default. We will be adding the ability to disable auto-updates, as well.
2. manage.alta.inc and dl.alta.inc are the hostnames mostly used, but NTP (from a list of servers) is also used for time synchronization.
3. Ports that potentially need to be opened for management are TCP 80, TCP 443, UDP 53, and UDP 5353.
4. Currently the devices will reach out and download firmware directly themselves. We will eventually add the ability for APs to cache and download firmware from each other on the same network.

thanks a lot.

  1. how to disable add accounts via login page? No one, except for the internal IT team, can access the portal, but just in case…
  1. this will be very usable. The APs are in vlan without internet connection.
  1. Great question. We do have the feature in the back-end, and are planning to add that option in the Admin account’s settings soon.

and i have 1 bug:

when i will try to log with wrong password, i will receive mail “alt api back-end crash”, in browser the webpage will write just “incorrent username or password” without any issue - everything works well.
