IOT SSID - and type Standard?

I have been having some issues with disconnection of some IOT clients - I have created a 2.4Ghz only IOT network which is set up as such in the network device type.

When i look at the devices - they show as IOT devices in the type but you can also change these to Standard…

Can I just get it confirmed that these devices are still technically treated as IOT as that’s what the SSID is set to?

Hope that makes sense?

The type should be properly reflected on the client device page, meaning it should also show IOT in that column for any device that is configured to use that SSID and password combination.

Based on the wording, it sounds like you’ve found how to change this on a per-client basis. Any client that is manually changed from Use Default Network Type will be set to use whatever the override is configured as.

Is it possible that this client in the screenshot was set to standard from the device config modal?

Yes sorry I should have been clearer I manually changed it.

I guess my question was to see if there was some sort of hierarchy here I.e if the ssid is standard you can go down to IOT, Internet only, guest etc but not up to large but from what you are saying it appears the ssid applies a label to each device joining and you can override that on a per device basis? Have i understood that correctly?

All good, thanks for the clarification. Glad it’s reporting correctly.

Yes, you do understand correctly. There is no hierarchy, albeit the large type probably won’t really do much when set on individual devices on another network type, but technically it can be used if desired.
