Installed a Route10. Was using an ARISTA NG Firewall. Xfinity 1Gb/42mb cable internet. Arris cable modem. Brocade switch. Aruba InstantON access points x3. With the ARISTA testing on my Linux desktop, I get almost 1gb down and 42 mb up. Replace with Route10, download drops sub 500 or less but still get 42 up. Speed test on the Route Web interface varies from 300 - 500 mb/sec. Wireless speeds become abysmal. Using the 2.5 WAN port and Fiber LAN (10gb) on the Route10. Not even running Intrusion Prevention. Changing DNS from Quad9 to Comcast makes no difference. Turning on hardware acceleration seems to make no difference. WAN port speed is set to Auto. If I put it on 2.5, I lose internet connectivity. Using the same Cat8 ethernet cable. Swap out back to ARISTA and speed is back. Any suggestions as to why this is? Hooked up a Alta Labs AP6 Pro via an 8 port POE switch and the speeds are also super slow via Route10.
Do you have a port-forward to the device that’s running the speed test? I did and it caused ingress traffic to that device (the speed test download portion) to be capped around 600-700). It seems that traffic designated for a device with a port forward rule gets dropped out of the hardware packet offloading, and falls back to the CPU for processing. I deleted the rule (just disabling it isn’t enough) and bam my 2.5 speeds are back.

My specific symptoms were:
- I originally was able to hit those speeds on the device in question.
- The problem manifested once I added a port-forward to this specific server, but I didn’t notice, and had forgotten that was the critical change.
- My upload was still perfectly inline with my line speed, just download suffered
- This should’ve been a hint early on that it was probably firewall or ingress rules related
- Another device with a similar high speed port was still able to hit line speed.
Interesting… I did create some port forwards. I will remove them and retest. Thank you.
My issue has been resolved. Looks like a possible conflict or incompatibility with the SFP+ fiber I was using to go from the ROUTE10 to the brocade switch. Now using a LAN cable. Acceleration = Alternative. Download Limit and Upload Limit set to Default. QoS Profile = Default. Getting consistent 900+ Mb down and 42 up. Glad to get this up and flying as I am liking the Alta Cloud interface.
