I have a situation like in the diagram below and it happens when the router is R10, if we replace R10 with mikrotik everything works.
3D_Printer <—WiFi—> AP6_PRO <—lan—> S8 <—lan----> R10 <—lan—> Ubiquiti_Switch <—lan—> Ubiquit_switch <—lan—> PC (desktop) = Working, i can access
3D_Printer <—WiFi—> AP6_PRO <—lan—> S8 <—lan----> R10 <—lan—> S8 <—lan—> AP6_pro <—WiFi—> Laptopa/macbook/phone = not working
from a phone, macbook or other laptop I am able to ping the printer but the page (control panel) does not load.
Can someone tell me why this is happening?
I have had a similar issue with my regular printer (HP LaserJet) being pingable but UI not reachable (or reachable but very slow) and printing not working. Inter-VLAN traffic with both ends over WiFi doesn’t work w.r.t. the printer. At least one end wired seemed to work.
Right now I can’t recall if I ever tested this through the same VLAN…but then I guess the traffic won’t go through the Route10 as I have only one AP?!
yes, computers and phones were in Vlan1 and the printer in 150, for the time being I can’t check whether switching to the printer’s VLAN would work because it seems that the problem will disappear after the last update.
no, still the same, except that after the update on the devices on which it didn’t work it started working for maybe 30 seconds and then cut off again.
It looks like there is a problem with communication between Vlans on wifi, when I connected my macbook or phone to the same Vlan of the network where the printer is, it started working, when I am in another Vlan, communication is not there but I can ping. I am talking about the situation only wifi via wifi.
Ok, it sounds very much like the same symptoms as for me. Inter-VLAN with at least one end wired worked, while both ends on WiFi did not work.
Was the working test of your’s on the same VLAN over WiFi still passing traffic through Route10 or just a single AP?
I tried this, right now, on the new set of firmwares, in case there was some remedy to this. All turned out the same, except for that I now could NOT print over WiFi from my Android phone to wired printer (PC on WiFi to wired printer continued to work both intra-VLAN and inter-VLAN).
from what I understand it doesn’t matter if the devices are connected to one AP or two, the packets still go from the device through the AP to the router and the router directs the traffic. It’s definitely related to R10 because it works without a problem on Mikrotik.
Ok. Yes, I agree. I also just confirmed that printing worked from PC over WiFi on both ends when on the same VLAN.
It’s hard to know of this a general inter-VLAN over WiFi issue or only related to the particular devices of our’s, but I guess this would need some attention from Alta.
