High resource utilization

And the most recent update unfixed the problem

If you haven’t already, on top of bumping the thread, it might be worthwhile to shoot an email into support@alta.inc referencing this thread so there’s a ticket created to track the issue. Also support can do things like be invited to your site to look closer at your setup or revert firmware back to a previous version to confirm the issue goes away again.

Seems like the latest couple of posts (completely choked system) may be another issue than the initial one (repeated intermediate to high, but short spikes/peaks), though.

I agree, although the latter seems to presage the former

Ah, so there’s been similar symptoms initially and then complete runaway? Did you see peaks for rcstats too? It could perhaps be worth turning on the persistent logging to possibly identify what caused the crash, after reboot?!

It is only happening with the switches, not the router. I’m not sure rcstats is the issue

I think the suggestion that @ebuckland81 had to enable persistent logging on the switch might be a good track to take. If it’s something crashing internally or disconnecting then it should hopefully be getting logged.

What’s connected to the switch and how is it connected to the rest of the network, if you don’t mind me asking? I don’t recall that being laid out, unless it was in another thread

I have two switches exhibiting the same behavior. Both are hardwired to the Route10. Both have an AP6 connected to it and a variety of other things. When I went through this before I disconnected everything except the access points and the Route10, but no joy.

Hmm, would it be crazy to try connecting one of the switches into the other switch and then that one into the Route10? Rather than each one into the Route10? I don’t exactly have any proof of it, but I had the thought that maybe there’s some kind of weird looping behavior going on. Could be worth a shot anyway

Yes, one switch is connected to the other and that one to the Route10. I did discover a number of loops last time, but there are none now. Nothing changed except the update to the switches1

I am having issues with loops choking the entire network, that I believe is related to an AP and SwitchS8 cabling going through the same conduit. Possibly some sort of termination issue. Chasing that one down was like chasing ghosts. I haven’t sorted that out yet, and just unplugged the switch for now. If it is related to issues with termination, it could, possibly, be intermittent and change with tension (in the building). Though, maybe it shouldn’t choke the system (there should be some loop prevention in place).

Anyway, would that be relatable?

That is relatable. But why would an update create a loop? The loop I had previously was three DecoXE75 hardwired. So I disconnected all but one. The Decos make their own mesh and no loop. But your suggestion prompted me to try disconnecting them and problem solved. But why did the update cause a problem?
