Hardware features in AP7 Professional?

Not sure if the upcoming WiFi 7 device from Alta has passed certification yet, but here’s what I’m holding out for. Guessing it will make a lot of people happy.

In addition to the AP6 Pro’s specs, I’m hoping to see these items:

  • 3 radio (2.4Ghz, 5Ghz, 6 GHz)
    • 2.4Ghz - 2 x 2 (DL/UL MU-MIMO)
    • 5Ghz - 4 x 4 (DL/UL MU-MIMO)
    • 6 GHz - 4 x 4 (DL/UL MU-MIMO)
  • PoE+ powered
  • 10GbE uplink
  • A second auto-sensing RJ45 10GbE port

We recently announced the WiFi 7 AP on our ALL (Alta Labs Live).
As of right now, the plan is almost what you have here.
The 6GHz will be 2x2 and there will only be the single 10GbE interface.

Ouch. Was hoping for a Ubiquiti E7 direct competitor with 4x4 for 6Ghz and swing to Alta.

This seems to slot right in between their U7 Pro Max and their E7.

When are these coming out? I’ve been wanting to test the AP6 pro but this looks ideal. I have a client with a Cisco 9300 with m-gig ports but still using old Linksys mesh APs. Crappy setup. They only need about four devices and want to land clients on different VLANs based on PSK use. I feel these would be a good option for them instead of Juniper or Meraki due to their size.

From the Alta Labs Live event in January, it looks like it is slated to be released by first half 2025.

I would also be curious if Alta will be doing a AP7 Pro, in addition to this announced AP7.

Yeah I’m looking for a AP7 Pro Max model if what they’ve shared is already their AP7 Pro model… and hopefully there’ll be a model that’s more directly competitive or superior to the Ubiquiti E7 access point.
