If there is not such a feature on the road map, may I suggest having an option to allow the local controller to connect to a local SMTP server within the network?
From what I have observed with the email generated for the local controller, the emails are originated from amazonses.com. This does make sense for the manage.alta.inc. I am questioning why for the local controller.
Email should not need to leave the network via the internet only to arrive back to the SMTP needs. If the idea on a local controller to keep data local, then allow us to configure a way to have email sent within the network. For example the controller could be use port 587 on that specific end point.
This would reduce a need for the controller to send email externally. It would also keep email addresses private (for the internal network).
Thank you
I do think this would be good, also would reduce your AWS bill Alta

I totally agree as the local controller could have many users or post the emails when someone uses an api incorrectly with the local controller such as
This that has the subject of “ Alta API Back-End Crash”

Yes please for this. It would be awesome to be able to use our own SMTP servers. The alerts from my controller are going all the way out to your servers, just to be delivered all the way back to my email server, that is sitting right next to my controller!
I get that error if I entered the wrong password
Hi guys, thanks for the feedback… it makes sense to me. I’ll pass along to the dev team!

As one of my past roles (at my employer) was to support software for both Exchange, IBM Lotus, and other providers. I think it is not that hard to offer extra fields on the configuration page.
I know Alta is probably getting a deal from AWS, but as I have used SendGrid, can be costly overtime. There are going to be failed deliver notifications. As a provider you are going to always worry about is the email being sent to the end user in a time manner.
I think this feature frees Alta from what happen within our organizations trying to connect to this equipment or controller for the needed tasks. Please the local controller will probably need to be scanned with all our network equipment.
It is another way of saying, it will offload traffic for those you use the local controller or the future device that will be hosted locally.
