Easiest swap ever! Any luck with vpn?

This firewall replaced my virtualized opnsense box. I have been trying to simplify my routing in prep for this. But this had to be the easiest swap I’ve ever had. I’ve been hybrid firewalls for a moment waiting for Route10. So some fun results: same residential coax internet service. On an older Amplifi HD download was 400 max, on the virtualized OPNsense 700. On the Route10 1gbps, first time I’ve seen these speeds from my service since I got it 2 and a half years ago. I also ran all these speeds today, right before swapping. I had been watching everyone upload their YouTube vids on their unboxing and initial setup, I had no issues getting everything I needed configured. The only thing I could not find much info on is the VPN. Has anyone gotten it running?

are there logs for vpn login attempts? i dont know what part is failing

You should have some client side logs already, and those are the information I would work from first.

Have you also seen this article?

from windows 11
Yes I did follow the doc you linked

Could you also share your client configuration details? Censor private details as necessary.

Does this solve the issue for your Win11 PC then, or do I misunderstand?

yes win 11 is working, still need to look at android and linux, but overall, configuration for the VPN as far as server side is concerned, its working.

Doesn’t appear that android 13/14 have native support for l2tp IPsec.

They removed that years ago, it’s not even supported any more. The oldest VPN ever. I sure hope Altalabs puts out the wireguard soon !!

I haven’t had the most success with wireguard, but also didn’t try too hard because I had openvpn running well enough

@Alta-Josh could you drop an estimate when the other VPN types might be expected? No rush, just curious, l2tp works for me for now.

looks like EAP in authentication methods seem to give the most error. most defaults are ok, but EAP should be turned off.

Wire guard if implemented properly is dead easy. It has to be implemented properly on the router though. I have run it on Opnsense Pfsense Grandstream & Unifi.

If Altalabs implements it soon on their routers they will gain a lot of attraction.

Unfortunately no. You can make sure there is an active thread in the feature requests category and more upvotes improves its visibility.
