I’m using a local controller. I couldn’t find the settings for it either under system or under the WAN setup.
Hi Jack… DDNS is there in a sense. If you have ROUTE10 it is fully automatic as long as you are okay with the pre-configured address you get. If you hover over the ip address of Route10 you will see the DDNS address listed about half way down the list of information.
This is 100% correct, immediately there is the automatic DDNS service for Route10. In a future update we plan to add DDNS client support so you can connect to other services, but I don’t have details or an ETA for that off hand.
Thanks @rutman286 and @Alta-MikeD . Will that name be persistent? Can I safely point my own CNAME to it? I could instead just install ddclient on a local server so this isn’t a deal breaker for me.
No problem! It will persist until you factory default the device, then it would generate a new one. So that shouldn’t be rotating much, if at all—I think it’s safe if you’d like to go that route.
Obviously this would work too, if you prefer to go this route.

A CNAME to the DDNS provided/managed by Alta works. (It’s just DNS in the end)
