Controller Unavailable

Not sure what I am doing wrong here, I know what the IP is and I include in the Add Controller section of the iPhone Alta App. It looks like this local.192.168.1.14.ddns.manage.alta.inc - But i get the error that the Controller is not available. What am I doing wrong?

I don’t have the local controller myself, but just as a test can that address be pinged? Or navigated to via a web browser? Just to make sure it’s definitely accessible.

Try accessing it from any browser and see if you get any information that way. It might give you addresses like

local.********.ddns.manage.alta.inc

and

********.ddns.manage.alta.inc

and information on using those instead. I haven’t tried using the local.IP.ddns.manage.alta.inc directly in the app myself.

This is not the URL structure for Control. It would be (local.)hashid.ddns.manage.alta.inc, whereas you have an IP in place of the hashed ID. The (local.)ip.ddns.manage.alta.inc URL structure is used by our APs for the hotspot.

EDIT: IF 192.168.1.14 is really the IP of Control, then visit its IP and it should tell you the DDNS hostname. If it’s not Control, it’ll give a different message like this device is already managed…

I was able to get to the Control interface now, Yeah. I only see some of the information from the cloud. How do I get them to sync up?

For others that are adding Control to there Cloud setup. Using your mobile phone with the Alta app makes it much easier.

They don’t—they are completely independent of each other. Eventually I believe the plan is to be able to link it to a cloud account, but I do not have details available at this time so not sure what that will look like.
