Capping guest networks

Hello!!

I’m doing a small setup for a business with a guest network using AP6-Pro WAPs. I have set up two SSIDs, one for the staff (non-limited) and one for guests (with a download rate limit.)

This network unfortunately has a low total speed and I was wondering if there was a way that I could rate limit the entire guest SSID to a certain total rate, saving a minimum buffer for the staff network? Even with a low cap on each guest device, I’m still worried that enough people can still take a bite out of the total speed to affect the staff side.

Let me know if there’s something I’m missing, or any help that can be offered! Thanks in advance

Are you asking to have an overall limit on the guest SSID instead of an individual limit per connected device?

Yes, exactly.

Unfortunately we don’t have rate limiting per VLAN/SSID, it is per-client STA only. Generally the type of rate limiting you want would be done upstream, often at the gateway/firewall device so that you can set an aggregate limit for the VLAN, and have it reliably enforced across the entire cell.
