Seriously, I just found how awesome Alta router is for my home setup and was disappointed this wasn’t available yet. Bought a cheap wifi 6 AP until this comes out so I can super charge my network the right way!!!

Man… Think I’m going to return the s12 I’m having issues with and just wait for this s8 since it is multi gig rj45 as well. Thanks for the heads up

Are support/vendor not willing to RMA it/issue replacement? I’ve literally just bought two 10Gb PoE++ injectors off of eBay in preparation for release of the AP’s in the next month.
They gave me a form to fill out to do an RMA but honestly I have two issues I guess. Originally I was kind of fine with the s12 but I needed RJ45 SFPs. Well the ones I bought don’t work well with the S12 as they were 2.5w and the S12 wants less than 2w. The less than 2w are over double what the 2.5w are. Four of the less than 2w is 180 plus another 299 for the s12(not including tax for any of it). Then you also gotta factor in I’ve literally been trouble shooting this stuff for over 15 days now and when I finally got the ramping up and down to subside instead I got just random UPs where the fan would max and then fall back down. This would happen randomly all through the night(and day but less noticeable when TVs and such are on) and unless I had the door to my computer room closed along with every bedroom door closed it would wake me and sometimes my kids up. If I RMA it and I get another back and it does the same thing then I am right back where I was then I can’t return it anymore either. I currently have a multi gig switch that I had been using. I just wanted to get an Alta so it would kind of integrate with everything but I feel like I’ve been fighting issues on all fronts to be honest.
Just to be clear, we’re happy to RMA your unit since we do not see this issue anywhere else.
Yes what Jeff states is 100% accurate I’ve been offered a RMA of the S12 I just don’t know if I should keep pursuing that or just return it and wait for perhaps this S8 or go a different route. As I told the support person I’m working with I’m just at a bit of a cross roads as I’m dealing with the s12 issues, route 10 inline has an oddity with trying to download docker updates for my unraid server, and trying to get my bypass working consistently has been hard as well. To Jeff’s credit he was trying to help me with that as well and I’ve been unable to do captures from my old router. I’m also working with mike on that one as he actually uses a bypass but sadly his is a different module and also he has a different ISP then me so they might be different in general.
