Ap6w wierdness led

Has anyone ever experience an AP6W with red or green LED?

I’m currently in the middle of a network install with 1 AP6 ceiling mounted and 14 AP6W connected to existing cabling throughout the building.

My process is thorough. Locate port number in the room and at the patch panel. Test cable using fluke network tester, fix errors if any and then mount ap and patch through to poe switch.

I had one at the end of day today that tested perfect but, when I patched it through it came up with red LED. I disconnected it and put in a new patch lead and it came up with green LED!

I have installed hundreds of Alta gear and have never seen anything like this. Looking some advice or if anyone else has ever experienced the same.

Cheers

@colin.rice Its an easter egg. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Actually, the AP6W have RGB leds. We just haven’t released support for leveraging them. The fact you are seeing the Red or Green LED could be a handful of reasons. Generally the solder on the PCB is slightly out of tolerance. Just enough to illuminate the incorrect LED. Generally, we don’t see any performance issues with the few that have decided to have their red and/or green LEDs light up. That said, we would be happy to replace it under warranty, if you would like. 100% your call.

Hey Chase.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I’ll send it back to head of sales at KD Electronics Dublin. Fair enough, that it might still work but, that would definitely get to my OCD :joy:
