AP6 Pro UTP connector killer or bad cables?

Apologies if the title drew more attention than intended. Please don’t get me wrong, I really like Alta Labs products (probably because I’m not a fan of the U product). However, I wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced the same issue I have when connecting an Ethernet cable to the AP6 Pro. After reconnecting the cable more than five times, the clip/pin on my UTP cable becomes unusable, forcing me to replace it with a new one. While this might not be an issue for permanent installations, I’ve never encountered this problem with other vendors. It seems like the angle or the UTP socket on the AP6 Pro is a bit too tight? So far, I’ve had to discard one Cat5e and one Cat6 cable due to this issue.

I can say that I move my APs A LOT. I like to play around and test and swap and I have probably unplugged both of my AP6 Pros more than 100 times at this point. I have not experienced a problem with the port.
We all need to share experiences though. I hope some others chime in as well.

How odd, I’ve never had this issue.

Are the cables custom crimped ones or made by supplier?
Are the cables also all made by the same supplier?

I can only think that the crimps are cheap ones that simply aren’t great.

Brand… Can you tell me? I took some pictures for the impression (sorry for the flashlight it’s midnight here maybe I can upload some fresh ones in daylight).

From the same unknow brand yes.

Not a clue tbh, maybe it’s the unknown brand that just uses cheap RJ45 that break easy.

If you try a different brand see if that helps?

Yes I’ll do that

The clip is still intact, but bent down, such that it doesn’t latch anymore? I had that issue with a package of RJ45 plugs. If you pull up on the clip, bending it upwards a bit, then try to see if it latches, does that work?

Uhmm no, it breaks off doing so. I threw away this cable on to the next one.

I said ‘a bit’, not wrench the whole thing off.

But, yeah, if it breaks off, those are faulty clips, toss the whole batch. They’ll just ruin your life.
