Been testing Alta labs for a while now and all UNIFI AP that are not LR (long range) and mesh are now for sale.
Wifi6 Lte - in a mixed environment barely broke 500Mbps, and using Alta Labs and AP6PRo we get around 825UL/948DL so why bother with Cloud Key for SMB and Power Users that want better speed now?
My test environment vmware and docker with OpenSpeedTest for WIFI perf testing - client win11/with m2 Intel 6 AX, also test using Iphone 13 with same crazy speed. Made my day!
Whats still missing is:
LBT (listen before talk) and Radio Optimization doing a scan and scheduled nightly in hash environments. Fleet AP MESH boxes moving from one site to other - I do not want to use LAN cable re-init, when moving slave Mesh AP boxes to new locations!
Can someone at Alta fix this in next release?
Thx to Alta Labs for giving Ubiquity some competition, and please send some merc and plz keep up with new boxes making my life as a installer profitable.
More feature request #want a Alta alternative to Ubiquity Edgerouter with 10GBE LAN ports - and SFP+ fibre WAN uplink #want a 2,5GBE POE+ switch and 10/5/2.5GBE POE+ switch for VLAN tagging #want a 2,5GBE interface on the new AP6PRO - for even greater speed
Here is a scenario where the P_Mesh (LAN-connected) - and S_Mesh (slave-only-wireless) should be moved at once. Cause this is NOT possible it had to be re-connected manually using a LAN cable at a new location/site. There are no Mass-move of MESH boxes to a new site.
I would suggest creating a feature request for the nightly channel optimization if you haven’t already.
We do have a feature or two in the pipeline to assist in the type of setup you’re doing; lab setup, then migrate to the permanent home. Hopefully that’ll address the specific issue you’re encountering.
I had 1 UniFI 6 Lite, 1 UniFI AC LR, 1 AC Mesh, and 1 AC lite. I now run 3 AP Pros soon to be 4. But the 3 alone have been out performing UniFi in both signal quality, coverage, and speed. I get full signal on all my mobile devices in all rooms now and it’s WiFi 6.
Some of what you mention has been mentioned and is in the works. The router specifically. I think a few people have mentioned 2.5G APs and switches and I don’t think that is a focus right now based on the replies i’ve seen. They want to get the current line out and perfected before that.
