I’m running 2.2p on all access points and have ‘Always On’ enabled on each one. Last night, my ISP was performing scheduled maintenance, and any time my internet connection dropped, the access points flapped, causing the line protocol on my Cisco switches to go down/up. My understanding is that enabling ‘Always On’ should keep the access points active and passing traffic locally, regardless of WAN connectivity. Am I mistaken?
That’s definitely correct in my experience, although I haven’t had an Internet drop to test that with the APs on 2.2p. Not too helpful I suppose but I might see if I can pull the Internet at some point today just to see if my APs stop broadcasting like yours did and check back in
Had a chance to do a quick test by pinging the router from a laptop and pulling the Internet. WiFi seemed to stay up and connected with no disruption to the ping. Also WiFi seemed to still be available from my phone during that time. It’s not an exact match to your site as I just have a couple of AP6s and I can try to do a more thorough test at some point, but there’s a data point to add I suppose.
No worries! I kinda figured it might have been a onetime glitch. I’ll try to keep this topic in mind if I happen to see something like it in the future and post an update if so.
