I wanna to know more about the case number 4642, we are trying to implement Altaboost in Ecuador but when we try to connect to the Altaboost network we get a portal and we need to fill a username and password, so we have the following questions:
Altaboost is an open wifi network ? if it is true, why do we need to fill a username and password if when we configure the wifi network Altaboost does not have a section to configure users and passwords for authentication?
Who provides me with the username and password that is displayed in the portal?
Can we use Altaboost in Ecuador, with which phone companies in Ecuador?
The user needs to connect to the Altaboost wifi network to get the connection with the phone company, isn’t the connection automatic if I am in range of the AP?
Even if you do not have any carriers that are contracted to work with AltaBoost in your country of Ecuador, you can still provide OpenRoaming no matter where you are in the world. Also, if you have any contacts with carriers, we would love to engage with them to help improve coverage for all carriers’ networks.

It is an open WiFi similar to a hotspot with a guest registration or login portal for authentication. This is automated by having a Passpoint profile enabled on your device, but initializing and authorizing the connection in the first place must be performed by the end user with their client device. This is the same as any WiFi, even passwordless SSIDs. As Jeff noted, let us know if you have industry contacts with carriers in Ecuador and we can engage with them to improve support.
