Alta Labs in a homelab

Hi,

Just switched WiFi-vendor in my house from Grandstream to Alta Labs. I really like how fast and responsive the management console is on Alta Labs so far. Roughly 60 devices on the network.

The setup consists of the following:

  • 3x AP6 Pro
  • 2x S24-POE
  • 1x S8-POE

Your rack is looking good and so clean with the cable management. I love it! By curiosity, what do you use as firewall ?

I use pfsense since i’ve been using it since it was m0n0wall (more than 20 years now). I run it on an old Cisco IronPort C150 appliance. I can show the rest of the rack, just need to dust the thing first

Is that an Indoor AP6?

Looks like one of the AP6 Pros @Durandal mentioned in his original post to me. Probably OK if it’s just getting some rain now and then with the IP54 rating it has

Yeah, its an AP6 Pro. The Outdoor did not exist when i installed the AP:s. Since its IP54 and there’s an overhang above, i’m not too worried and it has survived a winter with -15C with no troubles. I have another AP on a shed as well which also has worked good outdoors. But the AP6 Outdoor would be a better choice now of course.
