Alta Labs AP6 Disconnected

Hi, My AP6 is saying it’s disconnected. I have checked the cables and POE switch. They work fine. It’s as if the AP Point has just died. The light is off on the AP Point. Tried to reset by holding down the button for 10 secs with the switch on the back and nothing happens. Is the next steps a warranty claim? Please help?

Have you tried other ports/cables and tried a different power source other than that POE switch entirely?

Please see the power-on reset procedure described in our help center article here. This may recover the device even if you see no LED activity before. Don’t forget to make sure the cable you are using will provide internet access to the AP to enable the firmware reset.

If you do not see the LED begin to flash white within 10 seconds of powering on the unit while holding the reset button, try to start over but release the button after the power is inserted for 5 seconds. This timing should be enough to start the procedure even if the LED is not indicating anything yet. Give it 10 minutes to be certain that the AP is still not operating as expected.

Came here to see if others are reporting it. Happening to me almost hourly today and was solid before today. Had to buy a new AP to use until this is resolved. I’m thinking it is firmware related (2.2C)

@Alta-Josh @Alta-Jeff

Yes I have still no joy.

Sorry, your report is not clear enough for me to understand. Could you open another thread about it, as I don’t think it’s related to this thread?

Please reach out to support@alta.inc with a link to this thread for further investigation.

I’m seeing the same issue

Welcome to the community @renkenkyo!

Let’s start with a power on reset (“PoR”). To do this:

  1. Unplug the Ethernet cable from the AP, wait ~10 seconds for any residual power to be drained
  2. Locate, press, and hold the reset button on the bottom of the AP
  3. Continue pressing the reset button while plugging Ethernet back into the AP
  4. Continue holding the reset button for 5 seconds or until you see LED activity on the LED strip on the front of the AP, whichever comes first. Then release the reset button

If you still have no LED activity after this procedure, please reach out to support@alta.inc for further troubleshooting and/or replacement if necessary. As Josh says above, please include a link to this thread in your email.

Hi Matt, I’ve tried reset as instructed but still no lights or ip address. I’ve sent a ticket to support@alta.inc as well.

Apologies, @howie . I saw Josh’s reply above and assumed you were working with him on another thread. If you’d be willing to create a new thread, we’ll be happy to take a look. Feel free to paste the link here or DM it to me,

It is the same issue. Almost every hour it works fine then just stops and is “disconnected”. I reboot it and it works fine again for a while. I cannot find any pattern (IE not when streaming or when it sits idle, etc).
