Alta gear gets moved almost 800 miles in a 120+ degree moving van... works like a champ

My family and I recently moved from California to Idaho. We are in a rental house for 9 months, and things “just have to work”. As part of this move, I am now working from home as network admin for the California company I left, so having a functional reliable network is very important.

I can’t put holes in the house, or run any cables… you know it goes with a rental, so that means my Alta WiFi I bought with me is ALL I HAVE. My S24-POE, S8POE, and 3 AP6-Pros sat in a box in the moving truck for two days, where temps in the truck were well over 120 degrees. It was a nearly 800 mile drive… did it make the trip??

I pulled it all out of the box and threw a quick network stack together, powered it up and crossed my fingers. You know what happened? Everything just came right back online as if I had never left my old house. No fuss. No issues. No blips, or lost configs. Well done Alta. The AP is even in a terrible spot sitting on the entertainment center, but I get great signal and Verizon WiFi calling everywhere in the house. You gear is awesome. … Just need to get that Granstream router out of that stack ASAP

Maybe you can replace the grand stream with the new Alta router  when it comes out

I have my fingers crossed it will be very soon, sadly my router bit the dust the other day and I have to replace it with a UniFi Gateway Ultra which I hope to sell on eBay as soon as I can get an Alta Router.

Just hoping the price isn’t too expensive here in the UK - I have noticed the Alta Control is almost £200 here which seems the wrong price point for just a local controller imho… (I do love mine but I do also want Alta Labs to do well here and that means shifting units)

There’s always the Docker/LXD option , the bulk of the appliance cost is the hardware itself.
