After migrating from a Aruba CX6000 to the S8-POE my alarm system keeps loosing connectivity.
It connects on 100MB, which is fine, but drops every once in a while.
Is there a way to troubleshoot this to see why this is happening?

Have you noticed if any other devices on the switch are dropping off?
If you haven’t already, it would be good to try reseating the cable on another port.
If you are still seeing drops, please reach out to support@alta.inc, and we can take a closer look.
So far it’s the only device dropping off, port 6 on the S8.
Did swap ports briefly, will swap ports a little longer to see if that makes a difference. Thanx!
EDIT: swapped ports 6 & 7. Not referring to the meme. ![]()
What firmware were you running when this issue started happening?
When on 2.3p
Well, I think something is up with that firmware version, as I experienced a similar issue where port 8 would flap down to 100 Mbps. Changing the cables made no difference, and I had to contact support for an RMA. However, I am awaiting the next firmware update.
Port 7 seems to be the better port for the alarm system, I can’t tell if port 6 is still having the same issue as the device behind it, might be, less problematic with briefly loosing connectivity.
Will continue to keep an eye on it.
Is there a way to get port statistics on these things?
If you shift-click on the name of the device in the Network tab, or ssh in to it, you can run this command:
diag "mib dump counter port 8"
There is an 8-port offset in the hardware, and it is 0-based, so as an example, if you want to see the stats for port 1, the above command is what you want. For port 8, it would be port 15
That hurts my brain! ![]()
Looking good as far as I can tell.
~ # diag “mib dump counter port 15”
