Add additional colors or allow an ssid per access point

Hello, we are currently deploying alta access points in an apartment complex. However we’ve realized that there is a limited amount of colors which will limit the amount of ssids we can broadcast. Would it be possible to allow for more colors to be created or to allow for ssid’s to be assigned to each individual ap?

@Gunner20163 In a effort to make things manageable and scalable, we’ve honed in on a limited number of colors. Is there a use case that requires you to have more than the current number of colors allowed?

Yes, the tenants subscribe to an internet package on-line and choose their own ssid and password. We only want their home network to be broadcasted in the access point in their unit. As to prevent password sharing across the entire facility and for the tenants peace of mind and privacy.

The network name stays the same, we require a different network name for each unit. Not just a different password. We only want the ap in unit one broadcasting “unit 1” and unit 2 broadcasting “unit 2” we don’t want clients to roam around the facility. We really want alta to work out for us but the limited colors is detrimental.

You would do better to create a different site for each unit, then, or one site for a handful of sites.

Will fast roaming work through each site? Their will be an IT ssid as well.

Fast roaming is only possible between APs that have the same SSIDs, so if you have disparate SSIDs between all the APs, you won’t need to fast roam. If you have a few APs on a single site/SSID, fast-roaming will work for those individual SSIDs, as well.

Let’s say I have the ssid “IT” on site 1 and “IT” on site 2, will these fast roam properly?

Would that work by setting the “IT” SSID to the black color, and making sure all of the “sites” were selected for that SSID?

Are the APs on the same management LAN in both of those sites?
